That’s right, I’m finally getting round to bringing back some of the functionality from the old sidebars into the new ones. I have just added a small section tracking my Last.fm page and displaying my most recent tracks submitted to the sidebar.
I’ll be looking at more ways of integrating content straight into the sidebar from other sites as time goes on (though I think at the moment I have all of the major bases covered). Maybe this means I should start using another content site more… Perhaps Youtube or Flickr? We’ll see.
You may also have noticed (though you’d need either to be a total geek like me or have a very keen eye for detail) that I have tweaked the way Youtube videos are embedded into the blog: the colour of the player better fits the overall scheme of the site, and a subtle implementation change now means the full embedded video content appears in the RSS feed for the posts, rather than just a static image & link.
