I should be crying, but I just can’t let it show.

How I adore Kate Bush.

Glorious

Usually I feature a song here both because it has that somewhat ethereal quality that I like the sound of it but also because some line, or some even just some words, of the lyrics particularly resonate with me. I’ve taken to naming the post in question with that line rather than with the song title. Glorious by Andreas Johnson has no such line for me to pick, but the joy I feel simply from the sound of this track is enough. I think this might feature as one of my top all-time tracks.

Don’t have the power but we never say never

You may recognise this gem from the recent New Zealand ads running on UK TV; that’s certainly where I first heard Forever Young by Youth Group. It’s ace!

I’m a headcase if I don’t keep moving And my head hurts if I don’t sit still

Joe posted this song on his blog a few days ago, which was the first of me hearing of Electric President. Obviously I really enjoyed this track, Insomnia, or I wouldn’t be featuring it, but I strongly recommend the rest of the eponymous album too.

I’m scared of cracking up again I just Want it to be like it was before

If I remember rightly, Richard hates this song with a passion, so if I’m correct in that memory, sorry man! As for the rest of you I adore this song, 3am by the ever-jibed Busted. In particular I’m both surprised and impressed at the boys choosing to sing live, something which most autotune boybands of the time and since are reluctant to do. I especially love Charlie’s1 energy and commitment to the track. It’s obvious that this is the more heartfelt and ‘rock’ music he wanted to be playing before jumping ship to Fightstar. Of great delight to me is the inclusion (listen for them) of piano, viloa, unexpected harmonies, a guitar that sounds positively banjo2 and Charlie’s late-on metal-esque screaches. You go dude!

  1. The lead… if you don’t know them! []
  2. Is it actually just a banjo backing track? Maybe a uke? Bonus points if you can find out for me []

I know that this is vitriol. No solution, spleen-venting, But I feel better having screamed. Don’t you?

Careful followers of my Twitter will have noticed that this is the second time in recent weeks that I have featured this song, and that indeed I listed it in my previous post. Many parts of these lyrics apply at the moment, to all different parts of my life and my friends’.
